Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for using Will It Local?. Using the site means you agree to them.

TL;DR

  • The calculator, break-even index, and Rig Finder are free, forever. The $15 Build Plan is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
  • Every number on this site is an estimate for planning purposes, not a quote, a guarantee, or financial advice.
  • You're responsible for verifying prices and specs before you actually buy hardware.
  • We can suspend access for abuse (scraping, fabricated benchmark data, bypassing rate limits). You can stop using the site, or delete your account, any time.

What Will It Local? is

Will It Local? is a calculator and reference site that estimates the break-even point between buying local AI hardware and paying for a cloud API, based on the numbers you enter and our published hardware, electricity, and model-pricing data tables. It's a planning tool, not a quote: build costs, electricity rates, tokens/sec, and cloud prices all drift, and every figure on this site is an estimate against our last-verified data, not a live price feed.

What it isn't: financial, investment, tax, or professional purchasing advice. We're not a retailer, and we don't set or guarantee the prices shown for any GPU, Mac, or cloud API — those come from the vendors themselves and change without notice. What you buy, and when, is your decision.

Accounts

Creating an account is optional — it only lets you see your past Build Plan orders in one place; guest checkout works exactly the same without one. If you create one, give us accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has access to it. You're responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms.

Community benchmarks

If you submit a benchmark (hardware, model, tokens/sec, and so on), you're telling us it's a real measurement you took, not a guess. Submissions are reviewed before they appear publicly, and we can reject or remove any submission — including ones that look fabricated, abusive, or spammy — at our discretion. By submitting, you give us permission to display it publicly on the site, attributed only as an anonymous community data point, never to your name or email.

The Build Plan — billing

The Build Plan is a one-time, $15 purchase processed by Stripe — it is not a subscription and does not auto-renew or charge you again. You get a personalized, digital plan (parts list, quantization settings, expected performance, and your break-even math) generated instantly from the scenario you ran. Because it's delivered immediately as a digital product, purchases are generally final; if something went wrong with your order, email us and we'll work it out with you case by case. Any refund we issue goes back through Stripe to your original payment method.

Verdict Watch & the price-drop digest

Both are free, opt-in, and require you to confirm via an emailed link before anything is sent. Cancel either one any time with the one-click unsubscribe link in the email.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the site. That includes scraping or bulk-downloading it beyond normal browsing, trying to evade or bypass the rate limits, submitting fabricated benchmark data, attempting to access admin-only areas without authorization, or otherwise interfering with the service. We can throttle, block, or ban any traffic or account that does.

Ownership

The site's design, articles, data tables, and code are ours. We deliberately publish the calculation engine's source so anyone can read and verify the math — that's an invitation to check our work, not a license to copy, resell, or rehost the site or its content.

Disclaimer & liability

Will It Local? is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We work to keep the hardware, electricity, and cloud-pricing data accurate and dated, but we don't guarantee any number on this site is current, complete, or error-free, and we aren't liable for hardware purchases, cloud subscriptions, or any other decision you make based on a verdict, a break-even estimate, or a Build Plan. To the extent the law allows it, our total liability to you for anything related to the site is capped at whatever you paid us in the past 12 months — for most visitors, that's $0.

Third-party links

Product links on this site point to retailers and cloud providers we don't control (Amazon, Newegg, B&H Photo, OpenRouter, RunPod, Vast.ai, Lambda, and similar). Some are affiliate links — see our honesty policy for the full disclosure. We aren't responsible for those sites' content, pricing, or availability.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes, and we'll update the date at the top when we do. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by United States law.
